Easy Grilled Pineapples (aka Caramelised Pineapples)
Easy Grilled Pineapples caramelises pineapples, making them sweeter and juicier with NO added sugar!! They are perfect as a side dish, in a salsa, as dessert or even in your smoothies! You need to try them if you haven’t already!
STOP THE PRESS. Everything you know is a lie, because if you’ve never tried grilled pineapples, you need to make them this summer. In fact, they are so easy to make it’s embarrassing to call this a recipe, but I need to share this with you since it’s grilling season! They are, without a doubt, the best way to grill fruit that you’ll ever make. I didn’t use anything else other than heat and pineapples and you’re left with juicy, caramelised, warm pineapples that will taste amazing with and ON everything.
Oh, it also only takes ten minutes maximum of cooking time.
You probably know by now that not only do I love pineapples, but I also love grilled fruit. I’ve always loved barbecuing. The heat process naturally caramelises the sugars in the fruit, turning them into a real treat. That’s exactly the case for these grilled pineapples.
If you’re ever wondered how to bbq pineapple, or how to grill it, it’s probably the easiest thing you’ll make on your grill. All you need is a good, strong consistent heat and some pineapple slices. I like thick slices, so about an inch thick. Add it to the grill and heat it on each side. Each grill and pineapple is different, so put down one slice if you’re doing it for the very first time. Grill them on either side for a few minutes, flip, and that’s it.
It’s hard to describe just how divine they are, but those burn mark are actually the sugar bubbling over aka it’s ALL edible and delicious and juicy and sweet and to die for.
There are SO many uses for grilled pineapples. Think – everything you’d usually use it for, except with triple the flavour now:
With a scoop of ice cream and some rum
On top of your burger in a pineapple salsa
A caramelised pineapple smoothie – um YES
In your fruit salad
With some mint and coconut
By itself because honestly I sat down and almost ate a whole pineapple after one bite.
Happy Grilling!!

We love aromatic juicy sweet pineapples! Have never tried the grilled ones though..they look so tempting with the grill marks.
Thanks so much Angie! It is just so unbelievably delicious. Love those grill marks!!
I notice your grilled pineapple isn’t cored. I assume that when you grill pineapple you don’t need to core it first and can eat the core?
Hi Jean!!
To be honest I’ve never cored my pineapple! In any case, the grill softens it right up! I hope that helps :).
These look so delicious. I love that you didn’t core it as that’s my favorite part to eat AND it saves that step to de core!
Hi Jessica,
Years later I come across this recipe, my question is if it can be done in the oven too aka roasted pineapple?
Thanks so much, kind regards,
Anna
Hi, Anna thank you so much for reading! You should be able to roast them in the oven for sure. if you have a grill pan you may be able to get faint grill lines too. I would go for a high temp of 400ºF for around 10 mins. I hope this helps!
Very helpful! Thank you So much 🤗
I’m in love with grilled pineapple!!
